Maternity Magic in Anacortes | Beach & Studio Session with Anna

From Boudoir to Baby Bumps: Anna’s Maternity Session in Anacortes, WA

One of the absolute best parts of being a photographer (aside from getting to say things like “chin down, eyes up, smize like a goddess”) is growing with my clients. And Anna? She’s one of the OGs. From our very first boudoir shoot—where she fully owned the room and made my camera fall in love—to her intimate COVID elopement, wedding day magic, family photos, and now her maternity session, she’s let me tag along through some of life’s biggest and most beautiful plot twists.

We met through a mutual friend years ago, and I’ve been photographing her ever since. I’ve witnessed everything from wild hair transformations to the addition of several very cute, very opinionated dogs. And now? Now she’s growing a whole human. Casual.

Here are some of the throw backs!

So when Anna messaged me about doing a maternity session, it was a no-brainer. Not only did I get to photograph her again, but I also got to make a little return trip to Anacortes, Washington—which is always a “heck yes” from me. Anacortes is stunning, peaceful, and just the right mix of salty air and small-town charm. Plus, they have good coffee. Priorities.

And because Anna never does things halfway (we love an extra queen), she wanted not one but TWO maternity sessions: one in a cozy studio, where we could soak in the quiet, radiant mama vibes, and one on the beach where she got married—with her husband and their very well-dressed dogs in tow. Yes, they posed. Yes, they stole the show a little. No, I’m not mad about it.

There’s something incredibly special about getting to photograph people through all the chapters—especially the ones that involve growing bellies, goofy dog energy, and salty wind blowing through your partner’s beard. These are the moments we’ll want to remember: the in-between, the messy, the magic.

If you’re in Anacortes, WA, or anywhere in Skagit County or the Pacific Northwest, and want your maternity session to feel less “awkward posing” and more “joyful chaos meets editorial glow,” I’m your person. Let’s make something beautiful—and probably weirdly funny—together.
