New Year, New Boudoir | Self Love

New Year, New Boudoir

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that 2021 was probably not any of our years (if it was, please tell me all of your secrets). Big changes in our day-to-day lifestyles left a lot of us reeling and feeling disconnected with ourselves. But 2022 is right around the corner, and it’s time to reclaim the self-discovery and compassion we may have let fall by the wayside over the last year. Booking a boudoir photo shoot is a one way to take the leap into the land of self-love, and I want you to know all of the tips and tricks for making it a journey that’s all about YOU.

CHOOSE A LOCATION YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE IN

Sure, lounging seductively on a velvet-cushioned settee in a dimly lit hotel room may seem like the ideal backdrop for a boudoir photo shoot…but that doesn’t mean it’s YOUR ideal setting. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to location as long as the spot you choose allows you to feel relaxed and confident. If you feel slightly creeped out by draping your half-naked body across a random velvet couch, find somewhere that banishes those heebie-jeebies and lets you focus on YOU. It could be your own bed, a secluded outdoor location, or even a random place that you’ve fantasized about having crazy awesome sex in. So go ahead, sprawl out naked in that gorgeous field full of sunflowers – just maybe take some Claritin first.

LET YOUR PERSONALITY SHINE THROUGH IN YOUR POSES

Despite what you may have seen in the Victoria’s Secret catalog, “sexy” doesn’t just have one perfectly pouty face. You’re going to feel and look the sexiest when you let your unique personality show through, so there’s no need to force the Zoolander “Blue Steel” when you’re asked to look seductively over your shoulder. If you’re like me and the thought of someone asking you to “look sultry” sends you into a fit of giggles, just go with it! No matter what you wear (or don’t) for your boudoir shoot, it’s your face that tells your unique story. Your expressions are a reflection of your personality, so let that beautiful you shine through!

STEP OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

It’s important to feel comfortable and confident during your boudoir photo shoot – but let’s be honest, posing for a camera in lingerie isn’t a “comfortable” scenario for many of us. It’s totally normal to feel scared, anxious, or even emotional during a boudoir shoot. A true boudoir photo shoot is a bearing of your body AND your soul, so don’t shy away from emotions or sensations that may arise during your shoot. Once you embrace your discomforts, you may even find yourself more willing to try some new things!

FOCUS ON SELF-LOVE

If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m on a mission to help women find a greater sense self-love and compassion through boudoir. Whether you’re doing a NSFW photo album for your boo or you’re planning on being the only one seeing your photos, my main priority is making sure that you finish out the day absolutely in love with YOU. If you love what you just did in front of that camera, who gives a flying **** what the rest of the world thinks?! If rolling around naked in a pile of glitter is what’s going to do it for you, I’m all in (and no, this is obviously NOT a personal fantasy). It’s 2022 baby. Start this year off giving your body and mind the love it deserves, with or without a glitter bomb.
