Bearwallow Mountain Session with Audrey, Tom & Their Pups (Plus a Surprise!)

A few months ago, I met Audrey and Tom. They initially inquired about their wedding photography. While they ended up going with another photographer for their big day, they still wanted to support my work which genuinely meant the world to me.

When they reached out about doing a couples session with their dogs while I was visiting Asheville, North Carolina, I was all in. If you didn’t know anything about me, you should know I married a human from Asheville! So It worked out perfectly, I already had plans to visit friends and family in the area (and celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday). Therefore it became a little trip full of joy and silly moments

Audrey and Tom chose Bearwallow Mountain for their session, a gorgeous spot just outside Asheville, known for its wide-open pastures, Blue Ridge Mountain views, and treelined trails. It’s officially one of my favorite locations in Western North Carolina for those who want a mix of natural beauty and laid-back adventure. AND must be okay with a little hike.

And here’s the best part: cows. Yep, actual cows just hanging out in the fields at the top! As someone who grew up near dairy farms in the countryside of Washington state, cows have a special place in my heart. They (and their smell) always remind me of home, and this felt like a little unexpected gift from the universe.

We had such a fun time exploring the mountaintop, running around with the dogs, and soaking up the magic of the views (with a few curious cows in the background). I’ve mixed in some film shots with the digital gallery below—because if you know me, you know I love blending the nostalgic and the modern.
